Signage and Labels for the National Museum of Cambodia

As part of continuing support for the National Museum of Cambodia, FOKCI funded a major two-year project to provide improved signage and labeling. The Museum staff has now completed and updated labels for every item on display in the Museum, and has mounted descriptive wall panels highlighting key aspects of Khmer art, history, religion, and the Museum’s stone, ceramics, and metals collections.

In addition to enriching the experience of visitors to the Museum, the new labels have enabled the Museum to develop a more detailed catalogue of the collection, for use by researchers and curators. The project is also fulfilling another goal, through outreach to provincial museums. The National Museum team has already trained staff at several provincial museums in the techniques and terminology of labeling, and will be extending this program to additional provincial museums as well.
